KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Gerald Santucci, Head of Unit “Internet of Things and Future Internet Enterprise Systems” DG INFSO European Commission, BE.

Mr.Gérald Santucci has been working in the Information Society and Media Directorate-General of the European Commission since February 1986. In March 2007, he was appointed Head of the Unit Networked Enterprise & Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). The adoption by the European Commission, in March 2007, of a Communication on RFID has constituted a first milestone towards the achievement of a European policy framework regarding RFID. Work underway includes a Recommendation on the implementation of privacy and information security principles in RFID-enabled applications and a new series of global consultations on the Internet of Things. Over the years, Mr Santucci has gained extensive experience in the activities of the Directorate-General through his involvement in research management, including heading the Unit “Applications relating to Administrations” (i.e. eGovernment) 1999-2002, the Unit “Trust and Security” 2003, and "ICT for Enterprise Networking" 2004-2006.
   
Howard Mason, Corporate Information Standards Manager, BAE Systems, UK

Dr. Howard Mason is responsible for information standards and engineering business solutions in the Corporate IT Office of BAE Systems, including corporate implementations of the STEP standard for projects and links to customers. He is the AIA eBusiness Steering Group-nominated Co-chair of the US aerospace industry Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee, which recommends eBusiness standards for industry adoption. He leads the ISO activities on industrial data as Chairman of ISO TC184/SC 4, which received the prestigious 2007 ISO Lawrence D. Eicher Leadership award for excellence in standardisation. He is a Board member of the PDES, Inc consortium for accelerating the industrial implementation of STEP, and Co-chair of the OASIS PLCS Technical Committee, which is exploiting extensions to STEP to cover the complete product lifecycle. He chairs the Management Group for the MoU between ISO, IEC, ITU and UN/CEFACT with responsibility for coordination of Electronic Business standards worldwide, and is a member of the corresponding UK organisation. Other standards activities include the chairmanship of the European CEN Technical Committee TC310 on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, and membership of the BSI ICT Coordination Strategy Committee, which is responsible for all information and communications technology standardisation in the UK.
   
Sergio Gusmeroli, Corporate Research Director TXT e-Solutions SpA.

After several experiences in the research and software development domain, since July 2000, Sergio Gusmeroli became Corporate Research Director, counting now more than 20 researchers located in the TXT laboratories of Milano, Genoa and Bari. In the specific field of ICT infrastructures and architectures for enterprise interoperability and collaboration, his main research activities have been focusing on the following 3 major themes: • Platforms and Architectures for Enterprise Software and Applications Interoperability •Methodologies, models and software tools to support collaborative business •Methodologies, models and software tools to support the vision of the Internet of Things Dr. Sergio Gusmeroli is now Technical Coordinator of the FP7 ICT COIN Integrated Project(COllaboration and Interoperability for networked enterprises) and of the FP7 Factories of the Future MSEE Integrated Project (Manufacturing Service Ecosystem).
   
Michel Byvoet, Founder and CEO of Bivolino, BE

PhD, MBA Michel Byvoet, born 1959, founded Bivolino in 1998 after being Managing Director of Douëlounv, specialised in the production of top-of-range shirts. During the last ten years, he has developed a customisation strategy that enables fashion lovers to create their own individual shirts collection online. Michel Byvoet runs the production and fulfilment part of the custom shirts business. He participates in the European-funded research project Leapfrog, Open Garments, Corenet and recently MSEE, and he has a long experience on information and communication technology-based CAD/CAM. In 2007, he created BivolinoServices.com, a collaborative platform for e-Custom Fit Apparel. He holds a Bachelors of Economics from the University of Antwerp UFSIA as well as a MBA from Leuven/Chicago, Belgium/USA.
   
Eduardo Tomás, Head of Unit - Industry at Valencian Regional Government

Mr. Eduardo Tomás Industrial Engineer by the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and M.A. in Technology Management by the EOI Business School and recipient of the Marie Curie Doctoral Training program from the University of Louise Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. He has an extensive professional career planning, co-ordinating, implementing and evaluating R&D and innovation policy. He contributed to the planning and implemention of the “2001-2006 Scientific R&D and Technological Development and Innovation Plan for the Valencian Region” and the "2005-2010 Valencian Clusters Competitiveness Plans”. Presently he is responsible for planning and implementing instruments relating to the “2010-2015 Valencian Industrial Policy Strategy”. In 2010 he was appointed Spanish expert to the Co-operation Horizontal Committee of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission.
